UK School Games 2007The UK School Games kicks off in Bath and Bristol from 28 to 31 August showcasing the UK’s finest school-age elite athletes. This is the third UK School Games to be staged and it looks set to be the biggest and best yet.

This year record numbers of young athletes will compete with the event expanding to include nine sports. Alongside the new sport of hockey, competition will take place in badminton, judo, volleyball, athletics, fencing, gymnastics, swimming and table tennis, with disability events in athletics, swimming and table tennis.

The two-day swimming competition which commences on Friday 29 August at Millfield has already sold out. Spectators will have the opportunity to see some of the best school aged swimmers competing from throughout the UK.

Event Director Mark De St Croix said:

"It is great that the general public are so interested in the UK School Games, I have no doubt the atmosphere down at Millfield (swimming venue) will be fantastic on both the Friday and Saturday…The other sports are also proving popular, with the Sunday session of Athletics also sold out, I would encourage people to get tickets quickly and they are sure to see some top class sporting action."

Tickets are on sale now for the UK School Games. The Recreation Ground, home of Premiership Rugby Club Bath has been chosen to host the opening ceremony which will commence on 28 August at 8:30pm and feature amongst other things a parade of the 1,500 athletes and a spectacular entertainment show.
